Internet Fax Features

Sending faxes

  • Faxes can be sent from your email address or your RingCentral online account as PDF or TIFF documents.
  • Broadcast faxing can be done by sending a single fax to a preset group or contacts list in your Microsoft Outlook or RingCentral phonebook.
  • Fax reports are sent to your email address and to your mobile devices to inform you of whether or not your faxes were successfully sent.
  • Fax on Demand lets your callers receive faxes from your number by dialing a certain extension. You can use this feature to readily attend to queries regarding your products and services.
  • All sent faxes are recorded in a call log that is accessible through your RingCentral online account and Call Controller, a desktop application that comes free with the whole RingCentral virtual PBX package.
  • You can fax online by sending directly from any Microsoft application by clicking on the Fax icon located in the toolbar. A wizard appears for you to fill in the necessary information and send the fax.

Receiving faxes

  • Incoming faxes arrive in your email inbox and RingCentral online account.
  • Fax alerts are sent as emails and text messages.
  • The toll free or local number you get when you sign up for RingCentral fax serves as your virtual fax number.
  • Faxes are stored for 30 days in your online account.

Other features

  • Fax editing software. This comes free with every RingCentral Internet fax account. Once installed, you will be able to design cover pages, sign faxes electronically and print fax documents.

Plans and Pricing. Three different pricing plans are available from RingCentral Internet Fax.

  • Fax 300. For $9.99 a month, you can send and receive 300 pages of combined inbound and outbound faxes. Exceeding faxes cost 5.9 cents per page.
  • Fax 1000. For $34.99, the Fax 1000 plan includes 1,000 fax pages, with additional pages at 4.9 cents. An annual payment option is also available, letting you save up to 25 percent in total monthly costs.
  • Fax 2500. For $59.99, this plan includes 2,500 fax pages with additional pages priced at 3.9 cents.

Summary: RingCentral’s Fax 2500 and ClickFax’s five-user send and receive plan costs $59.99 and $57.99, respectively. However, it seems that RingCentral is the more affordable choice, since it has 2500 pages of combined inbound and outbound faxes, while ClickFax has only 500. Moreover, RingCentral’s overage rates are significantly lower then Clickfax’s. ClickFax features an optional archive CD that you can purchase per month. This is a good system of archiving your faxes. It also includes five email addresses, all connected to one virtual fax number, giving more flexibility in managing faxes. RingCentral Internet fax, on the other hand, is automatically integrated into its virtual PBX package, so if you’re already using RingCentral virtual PBX, your faxes will also by synched to your other communications.

Summary: Efax is more expensive than RingCentral. For a lesser price, you get more fax pages. The overage rate of RingCentral is also more affordable by more than 50 percent. These providers have almost the same feature sets, the only difference is that Efax stores your faxes for two years, while RingCentral has 30 days of fax storage.

Summary: Aside from being more affordable than MyFax, RingCentral also has more features and advantages.
